The Natural Home


WHAT IS THE NATURAL HOME?     Well this is what we seek to explore with each of you in each of our designs. And it can be many, many different things to many different people. This we do know, however-the natural home is alive and has a soul! It is a container made to hold the rhythms of your life, constructed of healthy materials chosen to support your health, happiness, and the joy of those who live and gather there. The natural home is also in balance and in harmony with the life of the Earth.

The natural home has a dream behind it. This may be big or small - it matters not. All that matters really is that there be a dream . . . and it be your dream! It is this dream that informs the design - its concept and development, the selection of materials, the choice of the other collaborators who will contribute their skills and talents, and the dream may even determine the building process itself.

The natural home dream might be the dream of a home designed to foster loving family relations, or to encourage and support community interaction, or the dream of living with and honoring nature in a harmonious and sustainable way; or the dream of creating a quiet, beautiful and sacred space. Or, it could be the dream of some recent clients whose dream it was to create a ’love nest’ to contain their new life as a couple! So you can see a natural home dream can be as unique and as individual as you are, or would dream to be!

It is our job at NATURAL HOME DESIGN to collaborate with you in imagining the possibilities. We use our collective skills, talents and expertise to take your dream and fashion a responsible and sustainable design around it and then to assist you in the implementation and realization of that dream.
